Early Years Landing Page - Nappy Valley | Streatham & Clapham High School
Inspiring, enlightened and intellectually rigorous — our girls feel stretched, not strained, to reach their potential.

At Streatham & Clapham Prep School, we understand the importance of a supportive and nurturing environment during your child’s formative years, and an inspiring and intellectually rigorous education.

As leaders in girls’ education for over 130 years, our mission is to ensure each girl excels on her educational journey. Our family ethos means that we know and value every pupil as an individual.

Our inspiring curriculum

We provide regular, enriching opportunities for our Nursery girls to develop and explore new, exciting interests and friendships alongside girls of all ages. Year 6 girls make memorable weekly visits to spend time with our youngest learners in the early years setting. The Nursery girls engage in story sessions and imaginative play with their older friends, all of which provide wonderful opportunities for imaginative play, social emotional development and key communication and language skills.

“We are committed to ensuring your daughter realises and celebrates her unique talents and identity.”

Key benefits of early years education

Cognitive Development – Early years education lays the foundation for cognitive skills such as language development, problem-solving, critical thinking, and creativity.

Social Skills – Opportunities for children to interact with peers, teachers, and other adults, fostering the development of social skills.

Emotional Development – The ability to develop a sense of self and an understanding of others’ feelings; this emotional intelligence is crucial for personal awareness and academic success in later years.

Language and Communication Skills – Girls learn to express themselves eloquently, listen actively, and access a range of techniques crucial to outstanding literary development.

Motor Skills – Engaging and exciting resources are accessed in our early education setting, encouraging physical play and exploration, which are crucial for both gross and fine motor pre-writing development.

Cultural Awareness – Exposure to diverse experiences and perspectives in early education contributes to cultural awareness and understanding; children learn to appreciate differences and similarities among themselves and others.

Early Development – Early education settings provide an opportunity to identify any potential developmental delays or learning challenges early on; early intervention can be crucial for addressing such needs effectively.

Overall, early years education is instrumental in shaping a child’s holistic development, preparing them for future academic success and fostering a positive attitude toward lifelong learning.
