After hearing that their local foodbank distribution centre at St Margaret’s Church in Streatham Hill was running short of essential supplies,  Cilla (Y5) and Olive (U5) wanted to help. Rather than just donating as a family, they decided to try to do something bigger by getting the whole street involved.

After spreading the word, they managed to collect donations from neighbours’ doorsteps and deliver them to the foodbank – with the first batch of donations delivered to the foodbank last week.  Redoubling their efforts, they’ve now inspired even more streets in the neighbourhood to get involved and will soon deliver a second batch to the foodbank.

Many neighbours who are shielding have welcomed the chance to find a way to support the community without having to leave their own homes.
