I believe that all members of the school should be inspired to outperform expectations on a daily basis. The pursuit of excellence is thus our defining feature. This is reflected in our examination results, which place us in the top 20% of independent schools nationally. But we nurture our girls to attain success across the widest spectrum of activity, extending far beyond the conventional ‘academic’ horizon. In so doing, they learn the beauty of reason, the allure of the aesthetic, and the vitality of the physical. Our girls, whether they are very able or late developers, learn to navigate the landscape of the human spirit and achieve beyond the realms of expectation.
What is so special about Streatham & Clapham High School is that we offer so much more than a standard academic education. The vein of creativity runs through everything that we do. Pupils learn the techniques of speculative thought, interpretation and these are just the skills that we need to live in this volatile and uncertain world.
We want our girls to be fearless in the classroom and that comes from our motto “towards wisdom unafraid”. We want them to be learners and the best way to learn is to see fearlessness in the classroom, which means girls are animated, they’re collaborating, they’re developing, they’re thinking through the tasks and activities that are being given to them
What we hope to develop in them is this creative energy that drives the understanding of who they are and what they can contribute to the world and change the world about them.Read more about the Head Master
At the heart of our girls’ success are our expert and alert pastoral systems. The care we extend to all of our girls enables them to make outstanding progress, both academically and in their personal development. We strive to empower them to pursue ideals and knowledge unafraid: to learn fearlessly. As a result, our girls mature into confident, accomplished and well-adjusted young women, prepared for the challenges of university education, their future careers, and everything else that their future lives may hold.
