Upper Third Induction
Strictly by invitation only
Your daughter’s first day of senior school beckons!
Normally we would hold a special event with two streams: one for your daughter and one for parents. The programme for the girls is designed to enable your daughter to make new friends and become increasingly familiar with our facilities, procedures and culture. For the parents, we host a separate information session that details how, we – parents and the school — work as partners to enable your daughter’s well-being and success at Streatham & Clapham High School.
As you know, however, these are not normal times; we have therefore adapted the Induction Programme to conform with current physical distancing requirements. As such, the Virtual Induction we have prepared this month starts with its focus on the needs of parents, although girls are of course welcome to join. As so much of the Induction for the girls draws on the context of the school setting and fellow pupils, we shall make sure your daughter’s needs are met in September, when we can, we hope, offer an on-site orientation that will be both useful and enjoyable for her as a new girl at SCHS. We shall also connect with the whole of your family via our newsletters and other correspondence in advance of your daughter’s joining us next term.
You will soon receive a copy of our SCHS Guidebook via Royal Mail. Whilst some of the procedures detailed in it may have to change as part of mitigating risks of infection and transmission of Covid-19, we thought it would be useful to provide you with an A-Z reference tool that explains our normal operating procedure as well as offering an at-a-glance reference about key staff members and various policies, systems and practices.
With my good wishes, I remain,
Dr Millan Sachania
DETAILS FOR PARENTS’ INDUCTION PROGRAMME: W/C 22 JUNE
There are two videos for you to view below:
- A Parents’ Guide to SCHS from Mrs Gillian Cross, Deputy Head Mistress
- Welcome to SCHS from Dr Millan Sachania, The Head Master
Mrs Cross’ presentation will cover:
- Teamwork with parents

- Whom to contact about what (tutor, teacher, HM)
Please watch these two videos and, to answer any questions you may have, we are hosting two live-streamed ‘drop-in’ sessions via Microsoft Teams as follows:
- Wednesday 24 June from 2 pm to 3 pm and;
- Friday 26 June from 10 am to 11 am
Please note: you no longer need to save the date of 22 June for a live Virtual Induction session as the videos will be sent to you pre-recorded via email rather than presented live. We hope this proves more convenient for you but apologise if it has caused any issues with your diaries.
We shall send the log-in details to attend the live-streamed drop-in Q&A sessions closer to the time.
If you have any questions in the meantime, please contact our Registrar, Mrs Janine Funsch (email@example.com).
