School Counsellor | Streatham & Clapham High School

School Counsellor

Like many schools, we offer a confidential counselling service to our students. We have a counsellor on site at both the Senior and Prep schools.

Your daughter may contact the counsellor herself if there is something troubling her that she would like to talk about in confidence, or her Head of House may suggest an initial conversation.

Ideally the Counsellor can offer up to 6 individual sessions. Each session will last for approximately 30 minutes.

Counselling is confidential, except if it is in a student’s best interest for the Counsellor to disclose to the safeguarding team or proper authorities, such as in the case of abuse, neglect, or endangerment.

If you would like to access counselling support for your daughter, please do discuss this with the Deputy Head of Prep (Pastoral), Head of House, or Form Tutor.

Senior School Counsellor

Mrs Carole Small is a qualified Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist, registered with the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). She is also part of the school’s Pastoral Committee and works closely with us to support our students when appropriate. At the start of the year Mrs Small will introduce herself to the students, explain the service and how they can contact her.

Prep School Counsellor

Rachel Turner, our counsellor at the Prep, is an accredited member of the BACP and is trained to work with children and families.
Children at the Prep are offered up to 6 sessions of counselling. Rachel uses a range of talking therapy, art and play therapy depending on the child’s individual needs and the approach that suits them best.  Rachel will meet with parents via Teams at the start of the therapy process to discuss parents’ specific concerns about their daughter, and their hopes for the counselling.
