Choosing a school: approaches and considerations
A recent article from the Good Schools Guide has shed light on the changing ways parents approach the important decision of choosing a school for their child. With Ofsted reports, social media and even TikTok reviews increasingly shaping opinion, the guide reminds families that while research is helpful, nothing can replace stepping inside the school gates. Their recommendation is clear: “Parents should trust their instincts, seek out trusted sources, and above all, walk through the school gates themselves before making such a life-shaping decision.”
At Streatham & Clapham High School, we couldn’t agree more. That is why our 7+ and 11+ Taster Sessions are such an invaluable opportunity. They give pupils the chance to immerse themselves in exciting lessons, meet our inspiring teachers, and experience the warmth and ambition of our school community first-hand. Just as importantly, they allow parents to hear directly from their daughters what it felt like to be part of SCHS for the afternoon.
Our upcoming Taster Sessions include a wide range of subjects designed to spark curiosity and showcase the breadth of opportunity at SCHS:
11+ Taster Sessions:
Thursday 2 October – PE or Science
Friday 3 October – DT or Classics
Monday 6 October – Music or English
7+ Taster Sessions:
We warmly encourage families considering entry at 7+ or 11+ to register for one of these sessions. After all, there is no substitute for experiencing the atmosphere, ethos and joy of learning that defines life at Streatham & Clapham.
