Meet

Our Chair of Friends

The Friends of SCHS play an essential role in fostering a strong sense of community at Streatham & Clapham High School. This dynamic group of parents and staff work together to organise a range of events and initiatives that enhance the school experience for pupils, parents and teachers alike.

The Friends of SCHS help bring our school community together by hosting regular events throughout the year. These include fun and social activities, such as: the Christmas and Summer Fairs, quiz nights, informal coffee mornings for parents, Pre-Loved Uniform Sale and much more. These events provide opportunities for families to connect, build friendships and strengthen their bond with the school. They also help raise vital funds to support a wide range of projects that directly benefit our students. In the past, funds raised have been used to enhance our school environment, provide additional resources and support exciting extracurricular opportunities.

Every parent or carer of a child at SCHS is automatically a member of the Friends of SCHS. Whether you have lots of time to offer or can just lend a hand occasionally, your involvement is always welcome. The Friends provide a great way to meet other parents, contribute to the school’s thriving community, and make a real difference to the lives of our pupils. They are supported by a fantastic team of Year and House representatives, and always looking for new members to provide additional support with future initiatives. Whether you’re interested in becoming a committee member, volunteering as a class rep, helping with uniform sales, or simply offering time to assist at an event, your involvement would be greatly appreciated. Please contact Friends of SCHS via friendsofsandc@gmail.com to find out more.

Together, the Friends of SCHS helps to create a vibrant, supportive and inclusive community that is at the heart of our school. We look forward to continuing this tradition of partnership and making a positive impact on the school for years to come.

Our Neighbours

At Streatham & Clapham High School, we are proud of our strong ties with the local community, and our recent collaboration with our neighbours is a perfect example of this partnership in action. Over the past year, our neighbours, Anthony and Ruth, have been wonderfully supportive, and together we have embarked on an exciting project to redesign and rejuvenate the front garden of our Senior school.

Our newly completed garden is now a flourishing green space, sustained by an efficient irrigation system. After a thorough site clearing, complete with soil and compost deliveries, the area has been fully transformed. The new planting design, a collaboration between our Head and our supportive neighbours, is now in place. Special thanks to Anthony and Ruth for their gardening expertise and ongoing support through their annual plant sale, which benefits Brain Research UK. We encourage our community to visit this inspiring local event and support a meaningful cause.

The reimagined front garden not only enhances the appearance of our school but also symbolises the strength of our community relationships.

Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging at SCHS

Our EDIB (Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging) aims are centred on ensuring that every pupil feels a profound sense of welcome, inclusivity and belonging within our school community. To achieve this, we have outlined the following plans and strategies:

Nurturing Inclusivity:

  • We will provide access to a diverse range of speakers and workshops led by individuals with lived experiences.

  • By inviting guests who reflect the diversity of our pupil body, we aim for each pupil to see themselves represented and inspired by these role models.

  • Every pupil will encounter something that motivates and shows pathways to achievement and belonging.

Professional Development for Staff:

  • We have invested in comprehensive EDIB training for all our staff across both the Prep and Senior schools.

  • This professional development is designed to deepen our educators’ understanding and implementation of EDIB principles.

  • The training will be integrated into the school’s new EDIB policy, ensuring a consistent and informed approach to fostering an inclusive environment.

Collaboration with Parents:

  • Parent-teacher EDIB working party at the Prep.

  • Termly parent EDIB events for Prep and Senior parents to engage with the Senior Leadership Team.

Our commitment to these aims ensures that Streatham & Clapham High School is not just a school, but a community where every pupil can thrive, feel valued, and be inspired to reach their full potential.
