We are dedicated to the holistic development of our pupils. We understand that their journey encompasses more than just academic achievement, which is why we place a strong emphasis on providing enriching opportunities beyond the classroom. Our extensive co-curricular programme offers a wide range of activities designed to nurture well-rounded individuals who are eager to explore life’s diverse opportunities. From sports to arts, music to debating, there is something for every pupil to discover and excel in.

One highlight of our offering is the ‘Kinza’ programme, which reflects our commitment to fearless learning. Through fortnightly sessions, pupils engage in diverse subject enrichments in a supportive and pressure-free environment. These sessions, crafted by our dedicated faculty, foster a genuine love for learning and skill development, empowering pupils to explore their passions and interests.

Furthermore, our trips and residential visits provide invaluable real-world experiences that deepen understanding, broaden perspectives, and prepare our pupils for their roles as global citizens. Whether participating in national competitions or exploring new landscapes, our pupils eagerly embrace these opportunities, showcasing remarkable achievements along the way. We believe that these initiatives contribute to a vibrant and enriching environment that empowers our pupils to excel in all aspects of their lives.

Drama, Art and Music

Our Drama programme brings stories to life through exciting performance opportunities, from theatrical productions to scriptwriting and improvisation workshops. Pupils can participate in annual plays, showcase their talents in school-wide productions, and explore drama both on stage and behind the scenes, with roles in set design, costume and lighting.

Art at SCHS is all about creative expression and experimentation. Pupils work with a variety of media, including painting, sculpture, photography, and digital art, supported by expert guidance to build their skills and confidence. Regular exhibitions provide opportunities to display their work and share their achievements with the wider school community.

Music at SCHS is a joyful and collaborative experience. Pupils can join ensembles, orchestras, choirs, and bands, with numerous opportunities to perform in concerts, recitals and school events. Our music programme encourages individual growth through instrumental lessons and theory classes while fostering a strong sense of community and shared passion.

Sport

All girls participate in sport, whether at a competitive level or for fitness, teamwork and enjoyment. Schools Sport Magazine ranked us within the top 100 independent sports schools in the UK (which places SCHS in the top 10% of all British schools). Our national sporting success continues to grow with achievements such as our U14 gymnastics team winning the British Schools National finals (April 2024), our U15 hockey team’s winning Surrey County Championship (November 2019), U12 hockey team’s winning the London Youth Games Championship (July 2019) and U19 netball team’s winning Surrey County Championship (March 2020). Major competitive sports include: Athletics, Cricket, Football, Gymnastics, Hockey, Netball and Rowing.

Gymnastics

At SCHS, gymnastics is a key part of our co-curricular offering, where we proudly celebrate our pupils’ dedication and achievements. In 2024, SCHS gymnasts demonstrated their skill and commitment in national competitions across various disciplines and age groups, bringing home impressive titles:

Kinza

‘Kinza’ is an Arabic term meaning ‘hidden treasure’. Streatham & Clapham High School’s ‘Kinza’ programme is one of the most exciting features of our curriculum and exemplifies our commitment to ‘fearless learning’.

Through the fortnightly Kinza sessions, each pupil has the opportunity to explore various types of subject enrichment freely, with no examination pressure at the end, all the while enjoying the process of learning and developing new skills. Each Kinza course reflects the personal interests and expertise of the teaching staff.

Our pupils rotate around a carousel of courses, giving them the opportunity to be bold and try out a variety of new activities, which are designed to provide academic stretch and challenge and an opportunity to collaborate with pupils, not in their classes or house. The Kinza programme is a salient feature of an SCHS education.

We aim enable every girl to achieve beyond the bounds of expectation on a daily basis, across the spectrum of endeavour. That’s why all of our enrichment options aim to inspire, nourish and develop each girl’s skills, experiences and imagination.
