On Monday, we were honoured to welcome back Jessikah Inaba, the UK’s first blind and Black barrister, for an inspiring visit to SCHS.

Jessikah delivered a thought-provoking whole-school assembly, sharing her journey of perseverance, ambition, and resilience. She spoke candidly about overcoming challenges as she pursued her dream of becoming a barrister, describing how she shattered what she calls the ‘triple-glazed glass ceiling’—navigating barriers linked to race, disability, and gender.

Her words resonated deeply with our students, reminding them that determination and self-belief can drive change. The assembly concluded with a powerful poem Jessikah wrote as a Year 12 student at SCHS, leaving everyone in awe of her strength and conviction.

Thank you, Jessikah, for returning to inspire the next generation. Your story is a testament to the impact of resilience and ambition, and we are so grateful for the opportunity to learn from you.
