Fringe Film Festival
Saturday 3 October 2026
10:00 am – 1:30 pm
Streatham & Clapham Prep School
Wavertree Road London SW2 3SR
We are delighted to invite you to our very first Fringe Film Festival, and we do hope you will join us.
On Saturday 3 October we are opening the doors of our Prep School to families from across Streatham, Clapham and our wonderful local community for a morning of film making, storytelling and performance. The event is free and everyone is welcome.
Girls and boys aged 3 to 11 will have the chance to build a set, write a script, compose a soundtrack, bring a character to life on stage, or animate a model frame by frame, all alongside our specialist teachers and our own pupils. Our youngest visitors will enjoy a carousel of film inspired activities designed especially for them.
Our girls are actively encouraged to take risks and have a go, and this morning will be no different. Do come along, roll up your sleeves and make something together.
Whether you know us well already or you are visiting Wavertree Road for the first time, this is your chance to see our Prep School in action and to discover for yourself why we are so often described as south London’s hidden gem.
One booking covers your whole family, so there is no need to book each child separately.
When you register, please tell us how many children are coming and their ages, together with how many adults will be with them. This helps us to prepare our refreshments and to plan the morning so that everybody enjoys it.
Do bring the babies, the toddlers and the older brothers and sisters along too. Please include them in your numbers so that we know how many of you to expect.
Our activities are designed for grown ups and children to enjoy together, so please do plan to stay alongside your child throughout the morning. It is by far the best part.
Booking closes on Friday 2 October.

The EYFS carousel, for children aged 3 to 6
Our youngest guests have a carousel of their own, a lively run of short, hands on activities that they will move between across the morning. There is nothing to choose, as they will have a go at everything.
The carousel includes:
- Disney character puppets made from wooden spoons
- Movie reel illustrations to design and decorate
- Their own movie scene, built from props
- Interactive prop games
- Drama, with plenty of noise
- Choreography and dance
- Script to screen sessions, where a story becomes a performance
It is busy, creative and joyful, and it will tell you a great deal about how learning works in our Nursery and Early Years classrooms.

Workshops for children aged 7 to 11
Our workshops for girls and boys aged 7 to 11 are led by our specialist teachers alongside our own pupils, in the classrooms, studios and halls where they work every week. Every child will have something to take home or to share at the end of the morning.
Stop motion animation
There is real magic in watching something you have made begin to move. Your child will model, position and photograph their own character one frame at a time, discovering just how much patience and precision goes into a few seconds of film.
Bringing characters to life
A drama workshop exploring voice, movement and expression, in which your child will build a character from scratch and find the confidence to perform it. Buoyant and unafraid, just as we like it.
Composing a music score
Music does a great deal of the work in any film. Your child will explore how sound creates tension, joy and surprise, and will compose a short score of their own to accompany a scene.
Script writing
Every film begins with a blank page. Your child will develop an idea into characters, dialogue and structure, and will leave with a script they have written themselves.
Prop and set design
Somebody has to build the world in which the story takes place. Your child will design and make props and scenery, thinking carefully about colour, scale and the details that make a set convincing.
There is no need to choose in advance. We will match your children to their workshops when you arrive.

Our Partnership
We are delighted to be part of the Streatham Free Film Festival, a much loved fixture in the local calendar that has been bringing film to audiences right across our community, free of charge, for many years.
Our Fringe Film Festival is our contribution to it, and our way of opening our doors to the neighbourhood we have been part of for 140 years.
