On Monday 7 April, we were delighted to welcome Year 11 and 12 students from five local state schools to Streatham & Clapham High School for our SSLP Oxbridge Immersion Day, a full-day programme designed to demystify the Oxbridge admissions process and empower students to aim high.
The day offered a series of workshops and discussions covering key aspects of a successful Oxbridge application: how to research and choose courses, what to expect from the interview process, and how to begin preparing for admissions tests. There was also plenty of time for students to ask questions and share experiences — all in a supportive, collaborative environment.
What made the day especially valuable was the diverse group of young people in attendance. As a proud member of the Southwark Schools’ Learning Partnership (SSLP), a network of 23 state and independent secondary schools across south London; we believe strongly in the power of partnerships. These connections allow students to learn alongside peers from a variety of educational and cultural backgrounds, broadening perspectives and developing the skills needed for life beyond school: teamwork, empathy and confidence.
The students who joined us were articulate, curious and brilliantly engaged. It was a pleasure to spend the day with them, and we’re excited to see where their journeys take them next.
At SCHS, we believe that partnerships play a crucial role in enriching education — not just for our own students, but for the wider community too. Want to learn more about our partnership work?
