On Sunday 11 May, 16 of our pupils from Years 9 to 13 represented the school at the Ball Cup Regatta, held at the prestigious Eton Dorney Lake, a former Olympic venue and a stunning setting for a day of competitive racing.
The event was split across three divisions, allowing pupils to take part in multiple races and gain invaluable experience on the water.
Division 1 opened with three single scullers battling it out. Two of the girls qualified for their finals, finishing impressively in 4th and 5th place.
Division 2 saw two Junior 15 and two Junior 18 double scull crews racing hard through to their finals. Both crews secured bronze medals, a testament to their teamwork, power and perseverance.
Division 3 closed the day with our Junior 15 quad, achieving the 3rd fastest time in the heats, who rowed with determination and finished 4th in a strong field. The crew racing for the first time in Junior 14 doubles made excellent progress.
It was wonderful to see such camaraderie among the team and unwavering support from families. Parents lined the banks to cheer our rowers on and ran a successful sweet stall to raise funds for the school boat club.
Congratulations to all our rowers for their grit, focus and sportsmanship throughout the day. We’re so proud of your achievements on and off the water!
