Design Scholarships at Streatham and Clapham High School: Apply Now

All pupils are automatically considered for an Academic Scholarship, with no separate application required. However, if you’re applying for a Specialist Scholarship in Art; Design, Technology, Engineering & Innovation; Drama; Music; and Sport, you’ll need to submit an additional application form and supporting information.

We award scholarships to girls who demonstrate exceptional talent or potential in these areas. For families considering scholarship opportunities, we encourage early applications so that we can provide timely guidance throughout the admissions process. Please submit your application online through our admissions portal before the deadline. We are unable to award Scholarships for chance vacancies in the Senior School.

Why Apply for a Design, Technology, Engineering & Innovation Scholarship at SCHS?
Students applying for the Design, Technology, Engineering & Innovation Scholarship must complete a separate application form and submit supporting information. We nurture creative talent and offer an open-door environment for our scholars to be in and around the workshops. Our scholars are expected to act as role models within the school to support the subject through:
- Regular attendance and help to support co-curricular clubs
- Attendance at events and exhibitions throughout the year
Our scholars will benefit from a range of opportunities and experiences designed to challenge and develop their designing, making and engineering skills, including:
- Participation in co-curricular Design, Technology, Engineering & Innovation clubs and events.
- Involvement in annual PiWars competition
What We Offer Our Design, Technology, Engineering & Innovation Scholars
As a Design, Technology, Engineering & Innovation Scholar, you’ll benefit from opportunities to develop your designing, making and innovative engineering skills. This will provide a solid foundation for those students looking to develop their interest in STEaM, with a particular focus on robotics and coding, and for those students who might be interested in pursuing a future career in this area. You will also serve as a role model, inspiring your peers and the wider school community. Design, Technology, Engineering & Innovation Scholars are expected to:
- Show a strong interest in Design, Technology and Engineering
- Demonstrate innovation and creativity through their problem solving, designing and making
- Lead and inspire their peers and younger pupils through the work that they produce and display within the school
- Attend co-curricular Robotics Club
- Be committed to reaching their full potential and demonstrate consistent effort, creativity and an aptitude in Design, Technology & Engineering, which will be reflected in their academic grades.
- Support the Design, Technology & Engineering Department in lessons and at special events, for example when delivering subject taster sessions and Open Days
- Actively seek to develop their understanding and interest in the creative and innovative industries through visiting exhibitions and events
- Partake in, compete and help lead our Robotics team
Facilities
Design, Technology, Engineering & Innovation Scholars will have access to forward thinking, passionate specialists, and to a department that is undergoing an ambitious upgrade and improvement process. The department currently has:
- Two workshops
- DT design studio
- Four 3D printers
- Two laser cutters
- One 4 axis CNC milling machine
- One metalwork lathe
How to Apply for an Design, Technology, Engineering & Innovation Scholarship

To apply for a Specialist Design, Technology, Engineering & Innovation Scholarship, please indicate your interest on the online application form. To ensure we assess each applicant’s designing, making, innovation and engineering skills, we ask candidates to take part in our in-school workshop event.

Details of the event will be provided to candidates in advance of the event.

Applicants are asked to bring with them on the day examples of any creative, technical and innovative projects they have produced. These could for example show evidence of an interest in electronics, coding, 3D printing and traditional making and modelling.

SCHS celebrates GCSE results

Streatham & Clapham High School is delighted to announce another outstanding set of GCSE results, with almost half of all grades awarded at 9–8 and nearly a quarter of the year group achieving an average of grade 8 or above.

SCHS celebrates A Level results

Our Year 13 students have excelled themselves with the school’s best A Level results since 2017 (excluding the Covid years). A quarter of the girls gained all A*s and As with 42% of all grades at A* – A, up from 33% last year.
