“Fearless Futures makes a fearless mindset part of everyday life at the Prep. It invites every girl to explore who she is, discover what she can do, and imagine who she can become.”

Helen Loach, Head of Prep

Our girls are growing up in a world that is changing faster than any generation before them has known. Technology is reshaping how we live and work, global challenges are growing more complex, and the expectations placed on young people continue to evolve. We believe the best response is not to shelter girls from that world, but to prepare them to shape it.

Fearless Futures is our answer: a whole school enrichment programme spanning every year group from Reception to Year 6, launched in September 2026. Built around eight strands, one for each letter of FEARLESS, it develops the skills, habits and confidence that sit beneath every subject a girl will ever study and every path she may one day choose. Piloted by our own Year 6 pupils and shaped by their feedback, it will keep evolving through staff input and Pupil Voice as it becomes embedded across the school.

The Eight Strands

Financial Literacy – Making informed choices. From coins, needs and wants in the earliest years to budgeting, saving and entrepreneurship by Year 6, girls learn that every financial decision involves a choice, and that those choices affect themselves and others.

Evolving and Maturing – Towards wisdom unafraid. Girls grow in independence, organisation and self awareness, learning to recognise their feelings, manage their time, adapt to change and take responsibility for themselves and others as they prepare for the journey towards adolescence.

About our World – Global awareness and curiosity. From her own street to the other side of the planet, and from the ancient world to the year 2100, girls explore cultures, communities and environments, and learn what it means to be a responsible global citizen. Dedicated classical studies tasks in Years 5 and 6 explore the languages, cities, myths and ideas of the ancient world and the modern careers they connect to.

Resilience – Learning through challenge. Running as a theme throughout the year, this strand helps girls see setbacks, change and difficulty as essential parts of growth, practising patience, perseverance and problem solving in safe, playful ways.

Leadership – Confidence, voice and responsibility. Girls discover that leadership is not about being the loudest voice. They plan, communicate, listen and support their teams, with genuine chances to lead at home, at school and in the community.

Expressive Arts – Experimentation through creativity. Art, music, drama, dance and design give girls a language for ideas and feelings, encouraging creative risk taking, reflection and an appreciation of originality in themselves and others.

Sustainability – Caring for our planet. A year round theme building practical habits: caring for the natural environment, reducing waste, reusing materials and understanding the impact of everyday choices.

STEAM – Curiosity and innovation. Science, technology, engineering, art and maths come together as girls experiment with ideas, test solutions, learn from mistakes and refine their work, building confidence in both creative and analytical thinking.

How it works

Dedicated Fearless Futures time is built into the weekly timetable for every year group. Half termly assemblies bring each strand to life: resilience and sustainability run as themes throughout the year, while the remaining strands each take a half termly focus, so all eight are covered by the summer.

Every girl receives her own Fearless Futures journal, her personal record of the programme. Tasks completed earn stickers, and stickers build towards a pin badge for each strand. Rotating Resident Expert sessions within classes give girls the chance to share and teach their growing expertise, and Fearless Futures showcasing events form part of our annual class sharing schedule, so families see the girls’ achievements first hand.

At school, at home and out in the world

Many Fearless Futures tasks are designed to happen beyond the classroom: a first meal cooked for the family, a talent show staged in the living room, a five pound business launched with real customers. Families are part of the programme, and we hope it sparks as many conversations around the kitchen table as it does in our classrooms.

Connected to the Senior School

Through Kinza, our partnership programme with the Senior School, Prep girls build connections with older pupils who are already living their fearless futures. It is a window into where the journey leads, and a confident bridge to the next stage.
