Bumper Community Fund-Raising Contributions in 2020

Streatham & Clapham rounded off 2020 with record community contributions and we are so thankful to you: our pupils, parents and staff for your support and generosity in these difficult times. From providing PPE to St George’s hospital staff through clearing out our Science Cupboards in March; to our kitchens teaming up with other GDST schools and caterers Thomas Franks to supply meals to front line medical teams; to fundraising for Cambodian school children on Christmas Jumper Day; the school community has made a huge different locally and globally.

Foodbank Partnership

We donated over a tonne of food during December to the Norwood & Brixton Foodbank thanks to donations of priority food items from the school community and our fundraising efforts through the Garland of Carols event. We decided have to keep the fundraising page open if you’d like to donate here.

Furthermore, if you’re able to donate long-life food and laundry items, we have placed a trolley outside the Senior School Reception (daily during school hours) for you to leave these in so that you don’t need to enter the building to do so. Our premises team will deliver these to the foodbank.

Empire Heroes Fund

Fellow SCHS parents launched this initiative to support the St George’s Hospital Covid teams with Christmas gift bags as well as daily deliveries of sweet and savoury home-baked goods to encourage and sustain these incredible staff. The hospital is stretched to breaking point and so the parents are looking for both volunteer bakers and professional chefs and caterers to join the team whether on a regular or ad hoc basis. You can contact the team to offer your help on community@empire-build.co.uk and see what they have been up to on Instagram @empire.heroes.fund.
