The foundation of the Sixth Form experience, of course, is about pursuing an enriching academic programme through the study of three or four subjects in the Lower Sixth. Our small, seminar-style classes in our award-winning Sixth Form facilities with panoramic views over London enable you to take inspiration from your surroundings as you study the subjects you love and carve out the beginnings of your future. We value student voice and encourage debate and discussion throughout the two years to prepare you to be the trailblazers of tomorrow.
Additionally, you will benefit from an array of further challenges and opportunities which deepen your understanding of, and engagement with, the world around you in one of the best sixth forms in London. This includes various different outreach programmes in our community, plus a meaningful focus on Diversity & Inclusion as well as Environmental Sustainability.
“Pupils are adept and confident decision makers, secure in their knowledge that the school is a safe and encouraging environment.” — ISI Report, 2019
Because girls develop intellectually and socially earlier than boys of the same age, our girls are never held back from their aspirations or abilities. Buoyant, confident and unafraid to fail, our girls represent the true meaning of our motto ‘towards wisdom, unafraid’.
Girls in U5 (Year 11) of Streatham & Clapham High School are not required to submit an application form or submit a registration fee or deposit. During the course of the academic year, the Assistant Head (Sixth Form) will meet every U5 girl with her parents to discuss her route into the Sixth Form, her A Level options and aspirations beyond formal study.
In order to enter the Sixth Form, existing girls should achieve a minimum of 7 GCSEs awarded at grade 6 or above. These should include English and Mathematics. In subjects they intend to study at A Level, girls should achieve a minimum of a grade 7 in that subject. In the case of a subject being a ‘new’ subject (for example, Psychology and Economics) alternative grade requirements may be set in other subjects. Candidates for Economics should have competent mathematical skills (grade 6 at GCSE).
We encourage and welcome applications from external candidates, as you have so much to offer the school. Our 16+ new joiners swiftly become a fundamental part of our rich community.
Before the school can consider any candidate for entry, the application form must be completed and submitted, together with:
