“Lockdown self-portrait” by Amber van den Berg (L6)

A gifted artist, Amber was selected to participate in an extensive series of workshops and classes this year, organised by the Royal Academy for sixth-form pupils. Although the course is temporarily on hold because of our current restrictions, the groups has still been set a weekly challenge by RA tutors – last week’s was to create a “Lockdown self-portrait.” As well as recording this particular moment in Amber’s life, it also takes inspiration from Goya, Gustav Dore and Aubrey Beardsley, artists who are of particular importance to Amber at the moment.
