Mural Design – April 2020

Thanks to the kind and generous support of an U4 parent, we have an extremely exciting opportunity – to produce a striking and eye-catching design for a large-scale mural, to be painted by a well-known professional mural painter, Louis Masai, on the side of a large building on Lordship Lane in East Dulwich. The winner of the competition will meet with Louis, to finalise plans for how the mural will be painted. They will also win a prize.

Our artist is based in London and his work has recently featured in a collaborative art project “Endangered 13,” in which 13 artists transformed disused railway arches in Tower Hamlets, to raise awareness of critically endangered creatures. In line with this, the theme of the mural is “Endangered Animals”.

Please conduct your own research into different species and create a spectacular study of that creature (or creatures), creating a design that you think would convert successfully into a huge mural. This could include more than one creature, although probably no more than three. Two different species could work but you are advised to keep it simple and limit it to two at the most. Any media is fine and studies can be any size, up to A3.

If you would like to see more, look on his website.

Please submit images of your work to Miss Baker by Friday 22nd May.
