SCHS girls shine at the London Youth Games (LYG)

Report written by Zoè (L5)

Waking up at 6 am was hard, but worth it. As the team gathered outside school, we had a mini-bus ride to Barn Elms.

We got ready for our matches; we warmed up and realised how slippery the courts were. Luckily the sun was out so the courts dried up. We played our first few matches and the wins were coming through. We had a tougher match against Wandsworth but the score was close as they slipped in an extra goal. Straight through to the semis, it was a tense match but we took the win and went straight into the finals. Yet again, against Wandsworth. We went out wanting to win, we played out hardest but unfortunately Wandsworth won. It was such a good game and I know it would have been tense from the side-lines.

We collected our medals, they are a thick silver with LYG carved out in the middle, I am sure I can speak for the team by saying we will treasure these medals and memories for our whole lives. Thank you, Mrs LB.

Congratulations Ameena (L5): Voted MVP of the whole tournament!
